Job Description

Job title: Global Sales Director, Mass Spectrometry Solutions, Microbiology Division
Position Location: Europe

The Director of Global Products Sales will be responsible for building a sales organization, developing the people, processes, and systems to deliver world-class sales for a pioneering In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) solution to clinical microbiology customers worldwide. She/He will be responsible and accountable for leading and delivering post-launch revenue and profit goals in the first year, rapidly accelerating over the following 2-3 years.

He/She will be a strategic leader of complex B2B solution sales, who enjoys the opportunity to build winning capabilities and culture in a new team. Together with the Marketing and Sales & Service leaders, she/he will also help set commercial strategy for the pre- and post-launch phases, driving successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build global sales operation to sell a pioneering and highly technical system to improve patient careLead development and implementation of sales processes and systems to be ready for launchHire, train and develop a growing global team with different sales rolesDeliver revenue, profit and CAS goals
  • Develop and manage ongoing annual sales processes for:Creating sales strategies and plansSales and pipeline budgets and projections?Sales goals, compensation, incentives, bonus and expenses
  • Work with commercial leadership and their teams across all regions to shape and implement the global commercial strategy for this system
  • Develop relationships with the management of existing and potential key customers, as well as KOLs and industry bodies
  • Lead sales teams to deliver on high-growth annual sales targetsEnsure effective coordination with other commercial functions (e.g., Marketing, Pricing)Use metrics and customer feedback to establish a culture of continuous improvementParticipate in the annual operating plan process with accountability to deliver the financial plan for system sales
  • Minimum Requirements/Qualification

  • Bachelors degree in scientific or technical field. Advanced technical degree, or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years relevant sales experience, preferably in IVD industry. 5+ years as sales manager
  • Significant experience in global/international business, with a preference for having worked/lived in different countries
  • Experience in managing large, key accountsExcellent written and oral English communication skills. Other languages (German, French) are an advantageStrong track record of commercial achievement through:Leading and motivating a team of Sales professionalsDeveloping sales of new product/service offerings from concept to market success or leading a rapidly growing organizationEffectively leading in a matrix environment, with, positive working relationships across business linesDeveloping and managing budgets
  • Personal Attributes:

  • Must have the personal authority, business acumen and interpersonal skills to work at a peer level with Senior Customers and KOLs, and influence at this level
  • Must have the independent drive and interpersonal skills to lead a new, global and growing sales force
  • Willing to travel extensively
  • Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • Scientific degree in a relevant field
  • International experience in a Regional or Global role
  • Strong and proven skills in recruiting talent and leading and developing high-performance capital sales teams to achieve and exceed targets
  • Experience in start-up, product launch, or other rapid-growth sales environments
