Further details on this exciting project to be shared with qualified candidates in person.The Colonnade Hotel, a member of Preferred Hotels and Resorts, has provided thoughtful hospitality to Boston visitors and residents for more than 40 years. A dynamic Back Bay landmark whose opening launched the neighborhood s renaissance in the early seventies. The Colonnade is a four-diamond hotel and home to the cities only outdoor Roof Top Pool and soon to be launched Back Bay restaurant. The property boasts 285 sophisticated guest rooms, including 9 suites and 13,000 square feet of meeting space.POSITION PURPOSE:To coordinate the activities of the restaurant, room service, and lounge including greeting and escorting guests to tables, supervising all staff, and maintaining a courteous and efficient operation to deliver quality product and service to the restaurant guests.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel and discipline staff for the efficient operation of the outlets. Institute on going training programs to ensure that the highest quality service standards are being obtained. Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as house count and menu changes. Schedule and direct staff in their work assignments.* Interact positively with guests promoting hotel facilities and services. Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties. Answer telephones in a clear voice, coordinate and document reservations. Organize special events in the restaurant such as Easter and Mother s Day. Maintain rapport with all departments and attend relevant meetings.* Move throughout facility and kitchen areas visually monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met. Verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products and check preparation methods to determine quality. Give guidance towards improvements and make necessary adjustments for consistency.* Maintain profitability of outlet to support overall hotel operation. Control payroll and equipment costs (minimizing loss and misuse). Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering and retrieving supplies and stocking shelves by stooping, bending, lifting heavy articles and reaching overhead. Evaluate cost effectiveness of all aspects of operation. Develop and implement cost saving and profit enhancing measures.* Utilize computer to accurately charge customers, create forecast and revenue reports and write correspondence. Input and retrieve data and change computer procedures using complex series of key- punches to program system. Skills, Abilities and Experience needed to be successful* A minimum 5 years experience in Food & Beverage and supervisory experience.* Proven track record in training and developing staff in service delivery.* Excellent wine knowledge.* Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage outlet operations including food, beverage, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.* Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems.* Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.
